Another Fabulous Wednesday!

Another chance to win:0) Pop on over to Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine's facebook page and comment on this week's "Why Not Win Wednesday" post- just scroll down until you see the picture that matches this prize from Spellbinders!

And I have a few other fun things to tell you about.  Have you ever wanted to be a part of a design team?  Magenta is looking to add to their team and if you would like to apply, you can find the details on their blog.

Also, I have a great new blog to tell you about.  The stamp-gifted Cathie Allan has begun to blog!!!  I have her listed in the blog list to the side, or you can just follow this link to tour some wonderful stamp goodness and 'Creative Whispers'.

On a personal note, I am nearly finished with this school year.  I have to say that I was so nervous about stepping back into work with the school system.  It has been years since I have had to apply those skills and was so worried that I would have forgotten everything I knew, or no longer have the patience required.  I went through my performance appraisal today, and it seems that they like me!!!!  Whew!!!  What a sense of relief.  While I don't have a position lined up for the fall yet (my contract this year was tied to the needs of several specific students), I am so relieved to hear that they would take me back in a heartbeat.  Please cross your fingers for me that there is another opportunity in the fall...

When you don't know what to say...

... sometimes space to wait it out is the answer.

There is lots on my mind lately.  No worries, everything is fine.  Just full of thinking of things.  Things I cannot change, but wish I could. Lots of events that are peripheral to me in a way, but effect me nonetheless. Lots of thinking about who I am as a human being, a work in progress, imperfect but trying. Changes happening that are outside of my control; the worst is waiting and not having some action to be busy with.

Glad it is summer.  One week of work left before holidays.  And then what?  A delightful mystery to let unfold.  Although finally getting baseboards and back splashes in our house will be part of our summer undertaking.

What thoughts are filling YOUR head these days?

And a little more remote testing!

This time with a picture.  Of my now string-obessed girl!

Remote test!

This is me, blogging from my phone!

Look What My Kid Can Do:0)

Where this interest came from I don't know, but it has been a longstanding one for Avery.  Since she was very young, she has loved visiting fabric stores and getting lost in the possibilities of creation.  In fact, on one such trip her Grandma bought her an old pattern book for a few dollars and she would pour over the pages, studying each design in turn.  She would take any fabric remnants she could get her hands on and create different things for her stuffies (who were happy recipients of her largesse) and her cats (who were much less so).

We were delighted to learn about a local quilting store, Sewing with Class,  that offered sewing classes to kids.  We signed her up and since February she has been going for weekly lessons.  First on the agenda was to make a drawstring bag to keep her sewing supplies in:

Then she created a lovely apron for me from the scraps:0) This one was not done in class, but on her own volition.

Next she finished up a nightshirt!  How she loves the variegated dye on this fabric!

Here she is at class at work on her latest project:  It was her last day until classes start again next fall.

And here she is wearing her creation!  A lovely pair of yoga pants- complete with the tree? pose, lol!

And apparently she had enough time at the end of class to use her scraps for a mini drawstring bag.

Robin's Nest Yumminess to Give Away!

You know you want some delectable dew drops!  Just head on over to the Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine facebook page and leave a comment under the 'Why Not Win Wednesday's' thread- you could be the winner of this prize package!

And.....

Hold on to your socks because this is BIG!  The most fabulous news ever!!!!  Like totally unparalleled goodness.

I scrapbooked.

I scrapbooked 5 pages!

I scrapbooked 5 pages in the MOST amazing location!!!

I scrapbooked 5 pages in the MOST amazing location with the MOST AMAZING PEOPLE!!!!!

It was retreat time for the Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine team and for the first time I was able to join the ladies at the Bull River Guest Ranch, nestled in the mountains near Fernie BC.  As one of the ladies said, "This place is more than a retreat.  It is sanctuary." What a heart filling, laughter fueled creative weekend.  And you may laugh at my output of 5 pages, but I'll be the first one to tell you that I am a slow scrapbooker.  Add in watching the magazine's creative team work their magic, over-the-top wonderful food, a ranch to explore, good hearted company, and a hot tub and we'll call that a few distractions!

Basic Grey paper, Maya Road chipboard.  Not my favourite for sure, but Avery told me she liked this page best from the weekend so that of course makes it extra special!

I've been getting the Basic Grey page of the month kits from Scrapbooking Fanatics which I love!  You get lots of paper and embellishments, a layout idea but you don't have to use it because nothing is precut.  Always a happy surprise each month:0) Also used some Riff Raff chipboard (sadly no longer in business), Close to My Heart stamps, and a WR Memory Keepers doily spritzed with Tattered Angels ink.

Prima and Echo Park papers, spellbinders and sizzix dies, Kaiser craft gems, Prima flower and lace, Glitter Ritz glitter applied with Be Creative tape and a ScribblzArt title (not sure if she still does scrapbook titles or is just focused on wall decals).  I think this is my favourite from the weekend!

7 Gypsies paper and Prima mistable canvas.  Prima bling and flowers, 7 gypsies paper clip, a ribbon flower made with American crafts ribbon, Girl's Paperie and Fancy Pants letters.  Unless this was my favourite!

Basic Grey... I think all of it!  Except for a little Colorbox Spritz in the background:0)
